Part 1 Homemade Flowers

Grace this is just for you ;)

When I was in Utah earlier this month, I found a headband that I ADORED. But it was ridiculously priced at $6, so I kept debating with myself of whether on not I should get it...I showed my mom and she said, "Oh we could make those! Take a picture and we'll figure out how to do it..."

Well, this last weekend, we had a girl's night at my mom's house and we all practiced making the flowers. My mom had bought 1/8 yard of some clearanced materials at JoAnn's and with a few jewels, some hot glue, and headbands/clips, I made these:

Cute, right?? And SO easy. We made quite a few, and I took some other pictures, but they're on my mom's camera at her house, so I'll have to do another post with those ones. We're actually trying to make these for the upcoming wedding so we'll all have some cute little accessory to accent our hair...

For your viewing pleasure...

So, as you can see, I've fallen in love with uploading my videos through youtube.com (it goes SO much faster) and now I'm going to drive you crazy with vidoes of Wyatt. I can't help it that he's so ridiculously cute...I just have to show you.

So without further ado...
#1. He loves that truck. LOVES it. My parents just brought it out last week (it's probably been hidden in some dark corner for a few years)...and he thinks it's the greatest.
#2. He really does talk that much. Like all day. Every day. I was worried that he doesn't have any real words yet (besides 'yay' and the occasional mama/dada), but then I realized he understands a lot more than he says...so it's allll good.

Wyatt takes steps

Wyatt is going on 15 months and still has ZERO interest in walking.

He did, however, show us that he knows how to walk by giving us a little preview by taking a few steps last Sunday!! Ever since, Jeff and I have been going slightly crazy trying to get him to walk. I'm sure Wyatt regrets his little show, because now he just ignores us when we try to get him to walk--we'll stand him up and he'll immediately sit down to crawl...for viewing purposes only, we did bribe him so we could actually document some steps on camera ;)

...it's almost bedtime in this one, so he's a little grouchy with us...

Everyone keeps telling me to be grateful that he isn't walking yet, which I can understand, but DANG!! This boy is getting heavy!!

I'm starting to think Wyatt is taking advantage of the fact that he can be carried everywhere...

Give it a try.

I don't know if you remember...
But I remember when my mom used to dress me up in leggings paired with an over-sized sweatshirt.

And I hated it. Like, truly.

So a few years ago when I saw leggings coming back into style I thought the fashion industry had LOST ITS MIND. I mean, REALLY??? Who wants to accent a wide rear and skinny legs?? NOT ME.

(That's not to say that I haven't seen people pull off the look. I'm just not one of them.)

Naturally, I avoided them like the plague.

...or not.
My dang SIL, Shannon, made me try on a pair one night we had hung out--she practically forced me into the dressing room ;)
I was convinced I was going to hate them because I'm one of those people who have bigger hips and skinny chicken legs, which, when accented, is not pleasant...or so I thought.
Yeah, well, obviously I didn't think they were that bad because I actually went back another night by myself and bought them. (These are actually JEGGINGS, which, for those of you who don't know, like I didn't, it's JEAN LEGGINGS.)

MORAL OF THE STORY: Don't judge a book by it's cover...or well, not until you try it on first ;)

The difference between Mommy's and Daddy's

I work early Saturday mornings, and so it's the only morning Jeff gets Wyatt all by himself.

This is what I came home to one Saturday:

Yes. That is my child, unbathed, in the shirt he wore yesterday, with no pants on, a diaper that needs to be changed, bedhead, a raspberry mustache, eating with daddy in the living room (because apparently a BIB makes it okay) with a BIG smirk on his little face.

And what are they doing? Ah yes, watching football, of course.

::facepalm::

Be proud.

Since becoming a mother, I have discovered the importance of time.
Not only do I NOT have the time to do all the chores around the house, but I also do not have time for myself.

I do not have time to do my hair.

I do not have time to do my makeup.

I do not have time, in general, to do anything to improve my looks.

In the past, I would have been MORTIFIED to leave the house without looking perfect. It used to take me an hour and a half to get myself ready, which included straightening my hair every day, and then styling it, and putting on my makeup. And now...well now I don't care so much.

And since I do not have any time left, I have learned a few tips to help me look decent in public, in which I am going to share.

1. FOR MY HAIR: I hate my hair. I mean, I love it, but I hate it. It can't decide to be straight or wavy, flat or voluminous, and either way, it NEVER cooperates. In result, my hair usually resides on top of my head in a messy ponytail/bun. It takes me 5 minutes to do. To dress it up a little, I add a flower to whatever side of my head is more messy than the other.

2. FOR MY MAKEUP: I have to admit that I thouroughly enjoy doing my makeup. So most days I go out (...meaning, IF I go out, MOST of the time...) my face is usually pleasant. BUT, this is only because I can do my makeup in record time...5, maybe 10 minutes at the most, from moisturizer to finishing touches. I have found though, if I just don't have the time, if I can at LEAST put on my powder foundation, and maybe some blush to my cheeks, it brightens my face wonderfully. If I have a little more time, I add the mascara, and for a few more minutes, some eye shadow and liner can be contributed. But the best thing for your face, I hear, is a GREAT night's rest. I have issues with that, which might be the reason I do my makeup often. But I can imagine with some good sleep those dark, baggy circles under my eyes might go away...

SO. Those are my tricks. As for dressing myself, well, that's another story. I wish pajamas could be counted as clothing.

On days when I have a little more time because Wyatt takes an especially long nap (that was today, and it doesn't happen very often) I can usually experiment with my hair. And today I decided to curl it--which hasn't happened in over a year, so I thought it might be fun.

I forgot to take a BEFORE before picture, so here I am post-curling action...just waiting for the curls to set up (the experiment here is pinning the curls...I've never done that before, and it worked well!)
Gotta be proud of that face ;) I seriously look dead...or like I want to die soon...haha!
AND voila!! The hair comes down and the make-up is completed.

And I don't know how he does it, but Wyatt knows the EXACT moment I'm done. So he wakes up with perfect timing and I get a few shots with my darling love.

10 years later...

So today my darling, very pregnant, best friend had her baby shower.

And today, for the first time in a long time, all the besties were able to come and reunite (not that we haven't seen each other recently, but this time it was ALL of us).

We took some pictures, like we always do...

And when I went through my camera, I instantly thought of another photo I have...I had to do some searching, but I finally found it hidden under lots of paper and books, so pardon me for the poor quality. It's funny that we're lined up in the exact same order:
10 years later and we're still together...

...and we're still laughing and joking like no time has passed.

Remember when you used to play dress-up and 'getting married', and then you'd stuff clothes under your shirt and pretend you were pregnant and actually pretend to give birth? You never did that??? Well we did. Ha! And now look at us...3 of us are married and actually have kids, and the other is livin' it up taking care of other peoples' kids. Haha, oh Malu. Find a guy and get married already ;)

Growing up we weren't always in each others' lives, but thankfully our paths have met up again, and I LOVE it. These girls are my sisters at heart.

(OH. And I HAVE to throw this in...remember how you girls used to make fun of me because I had the most ridiculous bangs?? Well look who's laughing now...you ALL have bangs!! )

Happiness

I have been so blessed.
I have a beautiful son, who brings me endless joy.

I have a hard-working husband who loves both of us--not only through his words, but also through his actions. He is soft-hearted, and is willing to change to improve our situation. He tries to make me happy in whatever way he can. He loves Wyatt with all his heart. He wants to be the best husband and father he can be.

I am thankful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with such a happy family.

Nose-diving.

Wyatt likes to fall off things:
He must have been born with a daredevil gene or something...I wonder who could have given him that??

ANYWAY, you'd think he'd have learned by now that gravity HURTS.
But he hasn't.

I just can't figure out why he likes to try to fly.

BUT ANYWAY, the whole point of this post is to show off his first major ouchie. I was at work, so thankfully I didn't have to hear his heart-breaking cries. I guess at first, because it was bleeding so much, they thought his teeth had cut through his lip, but thankfully it was just a scratch with a lot of bruising. He's not brain-dead (although Jeff's paranoid he will be, ha.ha.) and he's back to his normal self.

I'm not sure what the 'tongue-out-of-my-mouth' smile is all about...

...but it's cute all the same.

Don't mess.

We're grouchy.
And then we'll eat you for breakfast.

Just for fun.

I've always thought it would be interesting to have my silhouette drawn. I remember seeing a shop in Disneyland a long time ago, so this last trip I made it a point to search out that shop and look into it.

When Jeff and I first walked passed it, and I asked him if he'd do it with me, he shrugged...
...which in Man Terms means, "PLEASE don't make me do it, but I will if you want."

So I decided not to. And we walked away.

But I kept thinking how fun it would be, so I asked him to walk back to it...and then he knew that I really wanted to have it done, so he gave in. When we arrived back at the front door, there was a family in the process of having theirs done, so Jeff got to watch. And that's what hooked him.

If you haven't seen the old lady in the rocking chair at Disneyland do this, it's amazing.

She doesn't draw anything.

No light, no shadow.

She does it FREEHAND. By CUTTING OUT what she sees. Paper and scissors, people.

Jeff was completely impressed. And of course he had to initiate a whole conversation about how she would possibly get into something like that...
It was cute.

How do you think it turned out??
(We both realized how big our noses really are, haha)

It's snow fun!!

...but really, it IS fun!!
Get it? Ha..ha...it's SNOW FUN? Like, it's no fun? Haha?

Okay, I'll stop now.

ANYWAY, the few weeks prior to our arrival in Utah, my grandma had told us the weather was unseasonably warm and that there wasn't much snow because most of it had melted with the rain. Boo. I was really disappointed because I L O V E the snow.

Lucky for us though we got to drive through a storm on our way up and the night we arrived it snowed a few inches!!! Just for us! Awesome.
(But really, the drive was terrifying.)

SOOOOO, I got my snow. And all I really wanted it for was to show Wyatt. He's seen the snow before, but he's never been in it. The last time he saw it was a year ago and he was only a month and a half old...

*side note* Because we're from Arizona we've never had the need for snow boots. I remember being younger and having to wear plastic bags around my feet and crying because I thought it looked stupid. Thankfully Wyatt was a better sport and didn't even notice.
But let's be serious, he's stinkin' cute anyway ;)

I was trying to get him to actually PLAY with the snow...

...or maybe even taste it...

...but he wasn't really interested. He liked the icicles though!

And this kid LOVES the cold. He practically slept on top of the covers every night, and anytime we went outside he thought it was AMAZING. No crying from this little penguin.

Oh, Gracie-lacy-lou-hoo!!

So that darling sister of mine finally decided to go away to BYU-Idaho. We all decided to take a trip up to Grandma and Grandpa's house over New Years to see her off and wish her farewell...

Here are all the siblings together up in the Smithfield house...I'm not sure when this will ever happen again...

Oh, and we're gaining a new sister in March!! Did I mention Tim was engaged?? Well anyway, Tim is engaged, and this is his lovely Amy. We're glad she could come up too :)
Pardon the 'we-just-woke-up-faces'...we just woke up. Grace was leaving with my mom early in the morning...plus it was New Years eve the night before, so early means 10am, heehee

Oh, and just so you know, we're crazy somtimes.

Okay, maybe a lot of times.

We're definitely going to miss this Grace face.

And Wyatt won't forget you...I promise! I'll show him your picture EVERY day...that I remember ;)

Good times in the Costco.

Be safe Grace!! Call me anytime...annnnnd...
I love you.
