Poor, poor Mr. Potato Head.

Wyatt loves his Mr. Potato Head.

L O V E S  the thing.

And every day he asks for "poto. head."
And yes, just like that. As if it's two, separate sentences. Poto. Head.
We're working on saying potato...it's "zucchini" all over again.

ANYWAY...
Poto.Head. will keep Wyatt entertained for HOURS if I'd let him.
But what cracks me up the most, is this:

We've got a tongue and a mustache where his ears should be, and ears for a mouth.
Wyatt prefers the Picasso method.
And it's not like he doesn't know his facial features, because he definitely does, he just likes to defy normality, I guess.

Awesome.

buried [alive]

I asked Wyatt to give Logan a few toys...

...and I guess by a "few," he thought I meant the whole toy box.

Logan's Latest: 5 months!

5 months.

He just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
And so much cuter and cuter.

His personality is starting to become much more prevalent, and he loves to smile and laugh and be happy.
He's absolutely a daddy's boy (although I'm still his favorite) and he will give Daddy a smile ANY time. Even if he's nursing, he'll pull away to smile at Jeff! Crazy, silly boys, the both of them.

Daddy and Logan right before they hit the pool...

...and after church the next day!
(Is it awkward that their pose is exactly the same?? Haha!)

Logan is also enjoying Wyatt a lot more these days and actually searches for him! He likes to lock in on Wyatt and will stare at him until he gets Wyatt's attention. Wyatt has been a little better at being softer, and will now entertain Logan to get a smile or laugh. It's SO precious.

Logan has also developed a dislike to being cuddled, which saddens me. Wyatt is the ultimate cuddle-bug, and STILL likes me to "hold him," as he puts it. Logan though, likes to throw a fit the second I try to rock him to sleep...so we've started putting him to bed awake annnnd...he actually goes to sleep on his own! And most of the time he never even makes a peep...I'm completely amazed by that boy. Wyatt was the opposite and I had to make sure he was dead (asleep) before I could even attempt to put him down.
Although, every now and then, when Logan is EXHAUSTED, I can sneak in a little cuddle time, bwahaha!

So the boy hasn't quite mastered the sitting-on-his-own thing yet. He can do it for a few seconds at a time, but he always ends up falling over. Stinker.

He has, however, mastered rolling over. He's got belly-to-back down, but I've only caught him doing it the other way a few times...

Also this month, we started him on rice cereal, and I plan on getting him on his fruits and vegetables really soon. I'm not convinced he likes it, but he hasn't spit it out yet. He won't open his mouth for the spoon like he does any other thing that come near him, so I have to maneuver it just right to prevent cereal from getting all over the place. Sigh.
And speaking of his mouth, the kid has a mean chew. He likes to gum my fingers, and it hurts! He might be teething, but I haven't seen or felt anything yet...
And lastly, the poor boy needs a haircut...I'm SO tired of people calling him a girl...
...yeah, yeah Dad, I hear you.
(He's been telling me to give Logan a haircut for the last 5 months)

Logan is as sweet and charming as ever.
And I love being his mom.

I'll make you a believer.

Little boys don't come any cuter than this.

ONE WAY

I went for a drive to see the Temple this last week with my mom and sister...
...and it's looking more done these days.

...and just as I was uploading this picture, I saw the sign that says "one way," pointing at the Temple.
...and I thought that was pretty cool.

the end.

Have a "berry" happy Father's day!

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there!
(...although I'm not sure there are very many who read this blog, haha!)

I love having a day to focus specifically on Dads, just because I don't think they get a whole lot of credit for doing their "Dad" job. So today was fun, and we always enjoy our family get-togethers.

We started our day over at the Downs' where we had some delicious salad, steak and funeral potatoes, prepared by the wives. I brought dessert, but I'll get to that later...
The men loved it...especially the steak, and especially Jeff.

Awww, cute boys and their Dad's Rootbeer!

Matchy matchy daddies and babies!

The kiddies got to play on the slip-n-slide after dinner, and had a blast, of course...

We also stopped by the Van Capelle's to visit with my family and give love to my dad...

Amy is such a natural at this baby thing...I think she'd look good with one of her own on her arm!
::wink, wink::

We're missing one here...GRACE!!

Jeff and his boys!
Adorable.

It was a very good, and very busy Father's Day for me...

So...I mentioned before I made dessert.
Make that 2 desserts and a batch of jam.
All within a 12 hour time-frame.
Yes, I know I'm crazy.

BUT ANYWAY, here's what I did:

Yes, that's right. I made homemade strawberry jam, homemade raspberry crumb bars, and homemade blueberry pie, crust and filling.
And that's a lot of berries.

Thankfully, it all tasted WONDERFUL...
...and I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried.

So anyway, I'm pretty much baked-out for the next month, but...it was all worth it.
Happy Father's Day again! Love you Dad! (And Dad-in-law!)

But most of all, Love you Jeff!

What is: Rice Cereal

I can't believe it's that time already...

...time to start the baby on solid foods.

And here's how his first taste of rice cereal went:

"Hey guys!! What's going on? Why am I sitting in this thing??"

"Oh, wait...what?! What's that? It goes in my mouth?? And I get to EAT it??"

"...uhhh...first bite...interesting..."

"...oh yeah, this stuff is definitely good. Keep it coming!"

"Ooomph. I'm stuffed."

First attempt: Success.
Let's hope it stays that way!

"Heyyyyy, nice to see you again!!
You sure look handsome today!
And that smile! I love it!
And, oh! That hair! Is it your natural color?
You were just born with good looks, you lucky duck.
You're lookin' miiiiighty fine.
See you tomorrow, same place?"

what the...?!

Wyatt is a mystery.
Sometimes he'll wake up early from his nap on accident--a loud noise woke him, he got too warm, ect--and he'll come find me. And then normally I can tell he's still tired and I lay him down back in his bed.

Well, in the event he can't find me (because I'm downstairs) this is what he'll do:

Now, usually I'll hear him running up and down the hall (trying to find me), and almost always he'll call out to me once he realizes I'm not there. So this time, when I didn't hear anything after a few minutes, I went upstairs to find what no-good he was up to, and because I wasn't expecting him to be right where he was, he startled me a little bit. But there he was, just finishing his snooze on the ground, haha!
(He will also occasionally do this at night, and because it's dark he just stays there...Jeff and I have been scared more than once when we stumble across him!!)

The kid is weird. Why he just doesn't go back and lie down on his comfy bed, I'll never know.

dear, dear Overgaard

This last weekend I was invited to spend some time up at the Lawlor's cabin in Overgaard. I used to go every summer with my best friend Noelle, but I haven't been since before Wyatt was born. It was a great girls weekend with my mom, Noelle's mom, Noelle, Celeste and all our babies. The weather was lovely and we all enjoyed a nice, and mostly quiet mini-vacation.

I didn't take very many pictures unfortunately, but this is on our way up:

Wyatt watching Toy Story 2...he's obsessed with those movies!

Can you tell what kind of tree this is??
I'll give you a hint...it's a fruit tree, and there IS fruit on it...

...
....
...

...okay, so it was just ONE fruit...
We all thought it was so funny though...just ONE cherry on the entire tree!!

And this was on our way home...Wyatt was complaining (crying) about the sun in his eyes, so I gave him my sunglasses...after much trial and error this was the best solution he could come up with, haha!

I guess I must not have been thinking clearly enough to bust out the camera while all the kids were together, or even a group shot of us all. Oh well. It was lots of fun anyway!
