Jeff and I have enjoyed our new house very much, as well as the area that we live in. Our ward is amazing and consists of a gazillion young couples and their newborns, and then we have a few older and wiser families too. We didn't have a calling for the longest time (and we still haven't spoken in church, shhhh!!!) but at the beginning of the year we were called to be primary teachers together, which was something neither of us had ever experienced. The primary president is Jeff's aunt, so I'm thinking this might have been her doing, but we were so excited and willing to try something new. We're currently the teaches for the CTR 4A class, and we have 8 little munchkins to keep us going crazy. These little children are so fun to watch and be around, but they're also a handful at times. We have the class clown Colton, the loudmouth Manti, the followers Blake and Claire, the quiet one Noah, the know-it-all Sarah, and the chatty Amelia. We just got a new boy last week named McKay, and so I haven't got a title for him yet. Each Sunday is a new adventure, and it's especially fun to watch Jeffrey interact with them. I've grown up with little siblings and I think as a woman I know how to better understand them. Jeff on the other hand is hilarious to watch, and so unprepared for how to act with them. For example, one Sunday, Manti had brought a rubberband with him to class and was playing with it like a slingshot. Both Jeff and I had warned to put it away until the end of class or we would take it away and he wouldn't get it back. Wellllllll, of course he listens for a while, but then pulls it out again. Jeff yanks it from his tiny, little hands and says something like, I told you not to play with it anymore. Now you're not getting it back. Poor Manti is so upset and looks at Jeff with tears in his eyes and says, I'm going to tell my Mommy!! And proceeds to exit the classroom...Jeff just looks at him and says, Okay, and closes the door behind him!! I was like, WHAT?? What are you doing?!!! You can't just let him leave BY HIMSELF!!!!! So I run out of the classroom and try to find Manti...he's not too far ahead, just wandering by himself...I take his hand and pick him up and we proceed to have a nice conversation about how Bro. Downs is a meanie sometimes, but that he really loves us. Hahaha, it was cute. Manti was fine and came back to class and was as loud and obnoxious as usual. Oh, and this is the same kid who told us that the President was Obama and that he was good for nothing except killing babies...and we were just wanting to know who the President of the church was...hahaha! But anyway, Jeff is learning slowly that he needs to get on their level and make his explanations in the simplest of terms (he used to just read a scripture to them and expect them to know what it meant...like, after the scripture he'd ask, so who can tell me what repentence means?). Jeff tries so hard and I can tell that one day he's going to make a great father, he just needs a little more practice :) We love our little 4 and 5 year olds and teaching them has been one of the best experiences.
Nothing new has happened recently, other than I'm in a constant state of being sick, which has consumed my days. It might be due to my heightened sense of smell, or it just might be because my body currently hates me. I'm always nauseous, not to the point of throwing up, just a constant ache in the pit of my stomach...like I'm starving or something...but I'm not hungry. Although I have noticed that when I do eat (or rather, when I find something that appeals to my sense of smell) my stomach ache is temporarily relieved. Temporarily.
So anyway, the nice thing about it all is that when I want something in particular, I get it :) Lovely!! And yesterday the craving was KrazySub. So that's where Jeff and I went for dinner, and it was fantastic! Until at 10:00pm when my hunger ache striked again and I had to eat something at home. I found some Cream of Wheat...an old favorite of mine, and it was yummy.
And if you haven't figured it out by now, I'm pregnant. Not many people read this blog, or even know about it, so I'm not worried about everyone finding out all at once...haha! And the people that do read this blog probably already know, so it's allllll good. I'm only about 7 weeks along, so shhhh!! It's still a secret. But I figure I might as well blog about it, seeing as it's the only major thing happening to me at this point in time. Jeff and I are super excited...although I'm pretty sure Jeff is more enthused right now...he's not the sick one ;)
I'm a Van Capelle, and I married a Downs. This blog is a glimpse into our lives:
Jeff and I were married on May 26, 2007 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. We love each and every moment we share and can't wait to start new and exciting adventures together! We've got the two cutest boys in the world--Wyatt and Logan--and we love them more than anything! Life is good!
