1095 days...plus some.

Do you know what that equals??
It equals 3 years!! Which is what we celebrated tonight! Our anniversary was actually on Wednesday, but we decided to wait for today since Jeff didn't have to work. We had a lovely day of relaxation with our baby, and then dropped him off at Oma and Opa's house while we went on a date. I never thought that I would be so excited to go on a date, but it's funny how parenthood will change your perspective on things...so although it wasn't extravagant or expensive, we enjoyed our romantic 'alone' time together nonetheless. We went out for sushi and then watched the movie 'Robin Hood' (which was really good, by the way...)

I can't believe it's been three years already...

...sometimes it feels like less...most of the time it feels like more, haha :)

Either way, I've enjoyed growing together and learning new things and being each others' best friend. It's comforting to know that I will always have him, and that he will always have me.

I love you, Jeffrey...we've only got an eternity left to go!

Classic us.
(P.S. This is my 100th post!! AWESOME!)

Grace, my little tall graduate!

Congratulations, Grace! I love you!

...I gotta get comfortable!

I had originally laid him down on his tummy with his head facing the opposite direction, and under the blanket. He reminds me of a puppy who walks in circles before lying down :)

My kid likes peas?!??

...and it's not like they're fresh-out-of-the-garden peas. No. They're mushy-grainy-babyfood peas.

He devoured them--even asked for more!

What's wrong with my kid?! Who likes peas???

What are you feeding me, woman??

So...Wyatt had his 6 month doctor's visit (yes, he's 6 months!! I can't believe it!!!) and it didn't go like I had planned. Don't worry, nothing is wrong...it's just that he's gained less than a pound in 2 months (7 ounces to be exact), and only grew 1/4 of an inch. So instead of being in the 50th percentile in weight and 90th percentile in height, he's dropped to the 20th percentile for weight and 48th percentile for height.

Now normally I think I would have been freaking out (and I was a little) but his doctor didn't seem at all worried. I thought he would have given me the third degree when he looked at Wyatt's stats, but he just told me that because Wyatt is burning more calories, he's going to need to start eating more times a day...as in, solid foods. I must confess, I just started Wyatt on rice cereal a week and a half ago, and hadn't even thought about baby food. Well...that's not entirely true...I was planning on starting baby food next week. ANYWAY, I started Wyatt on baby food yesterday...right after the appointment. We go back to the doctor at 9 months, and hopefully he'll be back to the averages again...

I thought I might share our experience...he first had carrots, and this is a clip of Wyatt eating applesauce:

Did you see that raspberry he blew at the very end? Hahahaha!!!

I torture my husband...

...by dressing up Wyatt like a girl.

But seriously, how precious!!!! I love his face--it's so perfect for this shot!!!
And by the way, I don't usually dress him up like a girl. I just happened to have this decoration from my box of chocolates and I thought it would make a cute headband, so I had to test it out, right?? Hahaha...

loverly.

As a part of my motherly gifts I was bestowed with these beautiful roses from my loverly husband! I love getting flowers!
(When he was at Costco picking these out for me [I told him which ones I wanted, hehe] an older woman came up to him and told him to put these ones back because they were 'bruised and wilted' and to get me 'the pretty red ones.' They weren't bruised or wilted...but because they tips are greenish and the ends of the petals look torn, both are on purpose--it's that specific variety, she thought he was picking a bad bunch...haha)

ALSO, I got this bookmark from my mom!! It's SO SUPER CUTE that I had to share...
My mom works at an elementary school and this is what the kids were making their moms for mother's day...my mom also babysits Wyatt a couple days during the week, and so she decided to make this for me...the flower petals and leaves are his FINGERPRINTS!! Haha, my mom said he put up a big fight in the process, which explains the paint spatter!

I sure do love this baby boy!!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!!!
Today was beautiful! We were able to visit both our mothers and spend some time with them, and it was wonderful. It's such a great blessing to have both our families (relatively) close by so that we might spend time with them often. Also, it was my first mother's day and I'm so glad to be a mom to my sweet Wyatt...what a wonderful gift from our Heavenly Father!!

Another plus to my day was Tim's phone call home!! He sounds happy and is sad that he's coming home so soon...less than 3 months!!

(side note: Jeff wants a shoutout to the Suns who demolished the Spurs in the playoffs. Hooray!)

...and yet again, another new development with my baby boy (who recently no longer seems so baby-ish when compared to my new niece, Lilly!! She was born on Friday and we saw her last night--she's absolutely darling! Congrats to Matt and Shannon!) Anyway, we started Wyatt on rice cereal this morning and he had no problem devouring it! Lately we've given in to giving him little bits of dinner...mostly bread, maybe some mashed potatoes, and a cucumber here and there...but he's so happy to FINALLY be eating solid foods!!

After church shot: Wyatt wasn't so happy. Time to eat. Again.

One of my favorite motherhood duties would be playtime...I love LOVE his laugh and I love his toothless smiles (yes, still toothless...)

For some reason hair is one of his favorite toys, and sometimes I give in...I look at it as a nice scalp massage that's not-so-nice. He also loves my face :)
Hopefully that willl explain my messy hair and slobbered up face in these pictures, haha

I absolutely LOVE being a mother. Wyatt brings me a happiness I've never known, and a love I've never felt. He is precious to me.

Thank you to all my moms for helping me become who I am today.

Senior Pics

So my sister, Grace, is graduating from high school this year (it seems like everyone is graduating this year!) and she asked me to take her pictures...

...now I don't profess to be a great photographer, only that I love it, and I did take a few classes in high school...so I know the basics? Sure. But are they professional? Probably not.

But it sure helps when your subject is already beautiful and doesn't need much direction :)

So anyway, I thought I'd share a few of my favorites...

Congratulations, Grace!! I love you!!

Let's climb the mountain...

Last Friday was Grace's 'Senior Ditch Day,' and she decided to honor me with her company! Because Fridays are my day off, we decided to jam it full with adventures. So early that morning (which, due to the weather, was CHILLY!!!) we packed up our gear and took a hike to the wind caves at Usery Park...

...with Wyatt.

At first I was a little apprehensive because I'd never taken him outside for more than...maybe 20 minutes?? AND he'd be confined to a backpack the entire time (the backpack belongs to my parents and was used to carry my siblings...so it's old. But it worked great!) I figured though that because he loves to be outside and because there would be a constant change of scenery, he might be okay...

..turns out, I was right!! He was perfectly happy the whole time!!
(the whole time he wasn't sleeping, anyway, haha!)

Here we are about to start our trek! Grace offered to take him first, during the hard part UPHILL. That's probably a good thing since I'm no way in shape anymore...I had to break out some warm clothes for Wyatt and buy a hat to cover his bald head!!

About 20 minutes into the hike Wyatt decided to take a snooze...and slept until we reached the wind caves...

This a picture from my phone when we reached the top! It's a 3 mile hike roundtrip with an elevation of about 1000 feet...it's not too strenuous, but hard enough to make us take a couple of breaks :) I'd recommend it.

We switched Wyatt over to me to take the downhill course...

Wyatt liked to check out the scenery every now and then...

...and then he'd fall asleep again.

Such a tough day!!
