Okay, so first, this is sort of a random picture to this post, but Wyatt and I went to the zoo with my family today, and before my camera decided to go on the fritz, I was able to take this picture...
...notice anything odd?
We all thought it was funny that a goose was trying to be a flamigo...he was even standing on one leg! :)
ANYWAY, to move on with this post...I GOT MAIL!! I love getting mail!! Well, more specifically, I guess I love receiving packages (I don't love receiving bills, which unfortunately taints the mail-loving process...)
Can anyone guess what I received? I've only been waiting for this to come for 5 weeks...
Yes!! I received Wyatt's hand and foot impressions! And it turned out fabulously! The lighting doesn't do the color of the star justice, but it's a beautiful purpleish blue (also known as periwinkle...) I love how the impressions came out so detailed...if you look at it long enough, it seems to change from being an imprint to the opposite--his hand and foot look like they're popping out! Can you see it?
This will be the final resting place:
If you're interested at all about getting an imprint done, or if you want to see some other examples of her work, you can go here. I really love how it turned out! Thanks Mom for getting it for Wyatt!
So I started work this last week. HOLYCOW. Boooooooring. My work ethic seems to have disappeared since I took my leave and I feel lazy. Or maybe I'm just not used to sitting in the same chair, at the same desk, in the same building for 5 whole hours. ~sigh~
I thought leaving Wyatt would be hard, but thankfully I wasn't too overwhelmed. It could be that I'm only gone for 5 hours, or maybe it's the fact that I know that he's always in good hands. Either way, I haven't cried and my anxiety has been limited to a minimum. I have noticed, though, that as soon as I walk in the door when I get home, I make a beeline for Wyatt and hug and hug and hug him. That's when my anxiety is at it's all-time high...I just want to be with him and never let go. Weird, huh?
Well I guess not really--I mean, look at that face!! Who would want to leave him anyway??
(Yeah, mom, GEEZ! How could you leave this face?!)
On a different note, my little baby isn't so little anymore!! He'll be 4 months this week! We have a doctors appointment this week too, and I'm excited to see his stats... I feel so excited about his growth, but then I'm sad at the same time--it's such an odd mix of emotions. He's starting to develop a little personality, and it's SO MUCH fun to interact with him...he's started LAUGHING!! But then I go through his closet as see all his newborn clothes, and I look at his old pictures and know he'll never be this small ever again...
This past weekend was the Downs' Reunion. We drove up to Roosevelt lake Friday night, where we stayed in a cozy cabin just off the lake...
The weather was absolutely beautiful and the next morning the whole family took a hike up to some ancient Indian ruins...Jeff and I don't have a carrier for Wyatt, so we got to hold him the entire time. Thankfully we had lots of helping hands...and he doesn't weigh very much yet.
Wyatt was asleep for most of the hike, which made things easier...here's Grandma Downs! You can kind of see the cave where the ruins were built... Inside the ruins... A view from inside looking out
I like that you can't see Wyatt, haha
(and that Jeff is blinking...)
Wyatt wasn't used to so much bright sun!! We had to put a hat on his bald head, plus some sunblock, just in case...
Who's that lady?? It's a 7 month pregnant Shannon...and Matt carrying Jacob!
Another family shot...
Oooooh Wyatt, how I love you.
Besides experiencing his first hike in the blaring sun, Wyatt also experinced some rain!
And a rainbow!!
Wyatt and daddy had fun together!
He also enjoyed sleeping with us in the sleeping bags!
Look at the cuties in their jammies!! This is Wyatt with his only cousin, Jacob!
Grandma and Wyatt chillin in the jammies.
Here's a group shot of alllll the family! We really appreciated this relaxing getaway...
In other news...I made another wreath.
I pretty much love it.
Wyatt found his feet!!!!
I love how he grabs his legs in an attempt to bring his feet closer to him, haha!
I'm a Van Capelle, and I married a Downs. This blog is a glimpse into our lives:
Jeff and I were married on May 26, 2007 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. We love each and every moment we share and can't wait to start new and exciting adventures together! We've got the two cutest boys in the world--Wyatt and Logan--and we love them more than anything! Life is good!
