My baby is CRAWLING?!

I haven't posted in over a week! Our lives have been busy, busy, busy lately...first Jeff's truck stopped working and we had to carpool together for a few weeks, then some family from out of town visited and we stayed up until past midnight a few times, throw that all together with some work, lots of play, and trying to maintain a family and the outcome is hectic. ANYWAY...during all that, somehow Wyatt has discovered how to CRAWL!!! I've been told my life (and/or house) is about to get real messy...

He just started crawling (for real) yesterday at Grandma and Grandpa Downs' house. He's been trying a lot lately, but he hadn't mastered the movement of his hands. He still has a funny technique when he crawls where he uses his feet instead of his knees...but maybe that's how he likes it?? Here's a few clips we caught today...enjoy!

(we really don't give him candy and chocolate, I promise! The Mike 'n Ike box is used as a rattle...)

Wyatt's Top 20 FAVORITES

My friend Emily had a post about her son's top 10 activities, and I thought it would be fun to do something sort of like that...when I started out, I realized Wyatt doesn't have very many 'activities,' but he does have lots of favorites! So this is the list I compiled for him:

20. Car rides
19. Calling Daddy on the phone
18. The Itsy-Bitsy Spider
17. Reading books
16. Being tickled on his face and feet
15. Chewing on fingers (or putting anything in his mouth, really)
14. Pulling hair (and holding on for dear life...)
13. Shaking whatever is in his hand to see if it makes noise
12. Being sung to
11. Cuddling
10. Giving and receiving kisses
9. Slobbering
8. Baths/swimming
7. Electronic devices: the laptop, cell phones, remote control, alarm clock...
6. Blowing raspberries
5. Being naked
4. Opa (and other family too!)
3. Binky
2. Food/being fed
1. Mommy and Daddy

It's ALLLLL about you.

Innocently enough, I ask my sister to take a 'family picture.' You know, just for the record. Just so we can look back and say, 'Wow. We used to be attractive.' Just so Wyatt knows we really are his parents.

ANYWAY...

I have no problem being behind the camera and getting Wyatt to smile. It's only when I want to have a family picture taken that he decides to be a goober. No joke. EVERY SINGLE family picture we have lacks his smile. He instantly becomes a sassy child when both Jeff and I focus our smiles elsewhere instead of on him...

I.will.NOT.cooperate...

...under.ANY.circumstances...
Okay, fine. My binky will suffice. But NO smile. And I'll still look angry.

Runaway baby

As I was changing this baby's diaper, prepping for a bath, he decided he'd rather be free as a bird...and run away.

(He still hasn't mastered the whole crawling action...he'll get up on all fours, rock around a bit, fall down on his tummy, and pull himself around...)

And the random picture of the post:
Wyatt has mastered the 'ohhhhh' sound. If we make our face like this, he'll copy it. He's starting to mirror us more and more nowadays...

I live with the Early Bird.

No matter what time he last ate the night before, no matter how early or late he went to bed, no matter how tired he is or was...this kid ALWAYS wakes up at 6 am...on.the.dot. And he couldn't care less if I'm a grump. He thinks it's funny to pat my face when I've fallen asleep while feeding him...he talks to himself and keeps himself company until I wake up to his jabberings. What a silly boy! Doesn't he know that the Early Bird doesn't get anything until his mommy's fully conscious?!

And speaking of bird, this is what he's been doing since we started feeding him solid foods from a high chair:

He opens his mouth like a little bird, 'Feed me!!! Feed me!!!'
(We use it as the opportune time to give him kisses instead, heehee!)
See what I mean?? He even does it while trying to grab the camera!!
What, you want to eat the camera too, silly boy??

No worms for you.

Summertime means time for WATER!

Today was the first time Wyatt went 'swimming.' Although, I guess he didn't really swim, rather it was his first time in a pool, other than his bathtub, haha! He didn't know what to think of it at first, it was kinda cold, but after a while he decided it was...bearable. I let him sit down and he splashed around a little, but when we ventured further out someone splashed him in the face and it was a shocker. Poor baby. All in all though, it was a good trip and he was able to last a whole hour :) Next time I'll be sure to bring my own camera to take some pictures of the action.
These are a few pictures we took before we headed out:
These sunglasses came in the swimmer diapers...
what a cool dude. I love his little smirk, haha
I'm ready for my close-up...
We're both SO white. I haven't seen the sun in almost 2 summers. Yay for SPF 50.
