best buds.

My mom texted me this morning and asked for a new picture for her phone of both boys. And that's what I did as soon as they woke up (yeah, they were both still asleep at the time...at 8:30am--what?!)

Enjoy our little phone photo shoot!

Gotta start off with good morning kisses!

The next few pictures are hilarious to me because it seems like they both have the same facial expressions...

 -looking at something

-sticking their tongues out

-huh?

 -talking to themselves...or something...

They are the cutest boys EVER.

Logan's Latest

Can you believe my little Logan is already a MONTH old?! Why is it that time passes more quickly when you're having fun?? When I was at work the hours seemed to never end...

But seriously, this past month has flown by, and I've loved adjusting to our new addition. Logan is the most easy-going baby there ever was. He must have known Wyatt is loud and needy because nothing phases this little man. And speaking of Wyatt, his transition into becoming the big brother has been surprising. I was afraid he'd be rough with him (from previous experiences with other people's babies) and that he'd be jealous of the attention Logan was getting. Shockingly, it's been the opposite, and Wyatt has been very loving and gentle with Logan, and LOVES to give him attention. He gets concerned every time he hears Logan cry OR he'll get really excited because it means Logan is awake and he can see him. Wyatt even talks "baby-talk" to him, with a high-pitched, sweet voice, haha! They are so cute together, and I can't wait for Logan to get bigger so they can really interact.

Anyway, back to Logan...

He's been such a sweetheart. He just started smiling a lot within the last week, and I love his squinty eyes and chubby cheeks! He's been an excellent sleeper from the day he was born and we haven't had any hard night so far (knock on wood). Granted, we don't usually put him to bed for the night until 11pm or midnight, but then he only wakes up once more and it's daylight again. He's also been a really good eater (besides the fact that he sometimes falls asleep while I'm trying to nurse him) and he's got some nice rolls developing on his legs and under his chin, haha! He does have a little problem with spitting up, but I think it must be from over-eating or if he hasn't burped enough because it doesn't happen every feeding. BUT, I will say I've been drenched in spit-up more than once, and it's not fun...until I take a shower with him, which he loves. His nickname is currently "Squeaker" because he is SO noisy! Not with any coo's or talking noises like Wyatt was well-known for, but with grunts and groans and squeaks! It's hilarious!

And if you were wondering, we still can't figure out who he looks like, although we have decided it's probably more like me. He and Wyatt have absolutely zero in common, except that we're their parents (and that they're ridiculously cute). Their hair, ears, eyes, noses, mouths, hands, feet, and even their eyebrows are ALL different. They honestly don't even look related...!

Logan has made my transition from one to two kids a lot easier than I thought it would be. I know he's still a newborn and doesn't need a whole lot of my direct attention right now, but this first month has been good and I've been happy. He is such a handsome baby and so sweet and easy!! It must be because I've already had a baby before...

I love being a mom!

Good soup

One of my favorite soups comes from the Olive Garden, and when I received the recipe for Zuppa Toscana at a Relief Society activity night I was thrilled!
Not only does it taste really good, but it's SO easy to make. And since I want all to enjoy, I decided to share :)

Zuppa Toscana- serves 6-8

1 lb. sweet Italian sausage (I really like the bulk sweet sausage at Sprouts)
1 1/2 tsp crushed red peppers (I use less, about 1/2 tsp, and put it on the table if people want to add more later...just depends on how spicy you want it)
1 large yellow onion- diced
2 tsp minced garlic
10 cups water + 5 chicken bouillon cubes OR 10 cups chicken stock
3/4 tsp Italian seasoning (I add less because the sausage already has those seasonings in it)
4 large Russet potatoes- unpeeled and sliced
1/2 bunch of kale (or more)
1 cup heavy cream or half n half
Salt to taste

In a large soup pot brown the sausage with the crushed red pepper, diced onion, and garlic until the onions are translucent. Add water, chicken bouillon, Italian seasoning, and potatoes and cook until the potatoes are soft, usually after about 15 minutes at a simmer. Add kale, broken into bite-sized pieces (I like to only add the leafy parts and remove the stem) and cream and bring back to a simmer, just to warm. Serve and enjoy!

It makes great for leftovers too, so we don't mind the large amount :)

Logan's Baby Blessing

Last Sunday was Logan's baby blessing and it was such a great experience. A sister in my ward had written down the blessing and approached me after sacrament and gave it to me. I was so surprised and so thankful for her thoughtfulness! It was also great to see so many family and friends there, and when I saw all the priesthood holders go up and surround Logan, I was truly overwhelmed with love. It's a tremendous blessing to have our families nearby. I wish more of my extended family were here, but I was thankful my grandparent's could make it. We really appreciate all those who came!

After sacrament we went to Jeff's parent's home and had a luncheon and took some pictures...

First family picture of 4!

My family, minus Grace and James (and my grandparents...they had to leave early)

The Downs' clan (and D'Amico great-grandparents!)

We also had our close friends join us too, but we missed out on taking pictures with them :(

...and this is just a cute picture
(with a crazy, wild man in the background, haha!)

Last Sunday was also the opportune time to compare these two cutie-pie cousins!
Logan and Houston are only 2 1/2 weeks apart...

Our other "baby"

It's been in the works for some time, but last week we finally bought ourselves a bigger car! We're SO excited to have something a bit more reliable and child-friendly than Jeff's 1995 hunk-a-junk truck. Not only is his truck totaled (from that time I rear-ended him the day after we were married...yeah, remember that?), but it's also missing the passenger side window (because Jeff locked his keys AND Wyatt in the truck), the AC doesn't work and it's a gas guzzler. Ha. I must admit though, it has been good to us while we've had it...but I'm not really sad to see it go.

ANYWAY, our "new" car is a 2006 Hyundai Tucson, and we LOVE it!
(I have to admit I mostly love that I'm making Jeff drive a car called 'Tuscon' haha!)
It's wonderful to have something a bit more roomy to accommodate our growing family :)

Jeff really loves our sun-roof.
And actually...
...he just really likes having a new car.

Me too, Jeff. Me too.

all sorts of random.

I'm so glad someone decided to invent the camera phone...it's wonderfully convenient...

...enjoy these captured moments...

Wyatt likes to play with these huge wooden shoes...he tries to walk in them, but it doesn't work out so well...

My little...eskimo? Just out of the bath! ALL CLEAN!

Watching the Super Bowl with my hunny...(and yes, that's how I spell 'hunny')

Got my hair braided by my younger sister, Emma.
I love having my hair played with...

Cutest squishy face ever.

Yay me

So today was the first day I ventured out of the house with both boys. I was mildly terrified, and the preparation alone took me over an hour (you know...making sure everyone is fed and happy, with clean bums, ect). It was kind of a forced excursion because Logan had his 2 week doctor's appointment, so there wasn't really a choice in the matter...

It turned out okay though, and even though Wyatt was a pill at times (note to self, bring snacks just in case he spies the lollipop the kid sitting next to us whips out...talk about a mini-meltdown) and I even ventured into a grocery store after the appointment...

On a related note, Logan's doctor's appointment went well, and he's gaining weight just like he should.
He's currently 9lbs 10oz, and 22 inches long. What can I say? The boy LOVES to eat.

I know a lot of these seem like it's the same picture taken over and over, but I love all of Wyatt's interactions with Logan and me...plus I have the two cutest boys, soooo...

Life.

I know my hormones are out of whack right now, but I cried last night as I was rocking Wyatt when I realized that he'd never be my baby again--that he was only going to get bigger and bigger and eventually need me less and less. Again, must be the hormones because I know that's pretty obvious, but the thought of not being able to cuddle and rock my little boy to sleep is SAD. And I know I have another little boy I get to rock and cuddle now, but...can't they just stay little forever?!

I love being a mom, especially to these two!
