Getting to know you

Tim knows EXACTLY how to bribe Wyatt into liking him:

Share your food

Now that's love!

Sleeping beauties

My friend Rena Jean is getting sealed in the temple tomorrow and wanted to attend one last endowment session before she is married. Because I wasn't able to go with her when she got her endowments out, I offered to join her and we went this morning to the 6:00 session (yeah...it was EARLY.) And because Jeff has to leave for work at 6:00am, I needed to get a babysitter for the few hours I would be away...thankfully, my go-to girl Grace, is always happily available to babysit her nephew (plus it's super easy just to have her spend the night.) So anyway, after the session (where Rena Jean and I were asked by another sister if we were sister missionaries, haha) I came home to this:
Both baby and babysitter fast asleep...
...not for long though! I think Wyatt must have sensed I was home and woke up not 5 minutes after I took the first picture! Stinker!

REACH!

Wyatt is crawling and pulling himself up onto most everything these days. He's gettting pretty good at it and doesn't seem at all phased by things that should be out of reach...he'll just climb right up to what he wants to see if he can reach it.
Tippy-toes!

"I'm innocent."

And on a side note, my hair seems to finally be growing back...or well, I'm noticing it now. I have also noticed the shedding stopped a few months ago too. Hallelujah.

my phone pictures.

I was going through the pictures on my phone and thought I'd share some of the more recent ones...

My siblings like to take my phone and take random pictures of Wyatt.

This happened a few weeks ago, and my toe is still recovering. At work, after 7pm, if you go outside you have to scan your badge on a badge scanner (?) before you come in to unlock the doors. My problem is, I can never remember which of the two doors actually unlocks...and it's timed, so if you don't open the right door on the first try, you might have to go back and rescan your badge. ANYWAY, this time I decided to open both doors and save myself the trouble...my only problem was that I forgot to move my foot out of the way of the door that did open...so I ran the door over my big toe and totally crushed it. It was excruciating, but I just smiled past the security guard and kept walking like everything was fine. I went into the bathroom to find my shoe drenched in blood, with my toenail cracked halfway down to the nailbed...and by that, I mean cracked horizonally, as in the whole upper half of my toenail was going to fall off.
And I had just painted my toenails. Dang.

This was a picture that I sent to Jeff because I was so irritated. I was in my car, had just backed out of my garage, and wanted to pull out of the driveway, when I see this DUMB moving truck blocking the entrance. REALLY people?? They could have pulled forward or stayed back, because there was plenty of room in either direction, but no...let's make sure NO ONE leaves. (*this driveway is shared by 5 other houses, so I'm not the only one this dumb truck was blocking.)

Here's a rare shot of Wyatt actually sleeping...he likes to stay up with Mom and only pretend to sleep if he has to.

These next few are of Wyatt using the blinds cord knob as a binky. He found that all on his own and thought it was genious.

Jeff really is paying attention to the road. And we're both wearing our seatbelts...

Stop following me!

Wyatt is very...needy. I love him more than anything, but sometimes I need to put him down and have him entertain himself for a few minutes, without getting into trouble--and rarely does that happen. Usually if I put him down he'll cry once I leave the room, or find something he's not supposed to play with (even though I've scattered his own toys around him). The other thing he does, now that he's mobile, is to follow me around while I'm doing whatever needs to get done. Today, after we came home from the store, I went to the stairs and climbed up the first 3 steps to look in a mirror across the stairway (I had just bought a shirt and wanted to make sure it looked okay...). I was just about done, when I looked down and there was Wyatt...trying to climb the stairs. He's never given our stairs a sideways glance, and I'm pretty sure he never knew they existed for his entertainment. Thankfully the camera was close by so I could catch him in the act, without having him repeat it...I don't want him to think he's allowed to do this.

And on a side note, when Wyatt gives me kisses, like this one, he likes to pretty much eat my face...which leaves me all gummed up and slobbery :) But I love them nonetheless and will take all the kisses he gives me!

One little monkey, jumping on the bead...

...he fell off and broke his head!!

No, not really. But he did bonk his head on the side of the bed...It's a fact: the day hasn't TRULY started until Wyatt hits his head on something. As you'll notice in this picture, he's got some fine bruises and bumps going on. *sigh*

It's so sad to see them go...

This last week we had family from Holland visit and stay at my parents house. We only get to see them when they come on vacation to the states, which only happens RARELY. The last time I saw them was over 3 years ago before Jeff and I were married and before that it was in 2004, and then before that I think it was when we went to visit them when I was 10. Yeah. So it's a pretty huge occasion when they're here and we like to spend most every moment enjoying each others' company. Thankfully I was able to get off work this last week and see them the WHOLE time! It was wonderful! Especially since their visit coinsided with Tim's return!

(*side note: my dad has 8 other brothers and sisters, but we only see this family most of the time because they are the only ones who really come to the US to visit...which means that I haven't seen or met half of my cousins in the Netherlands because they have been born since I went back in 1998...it's depressing.)

Anyway, they left today, and it was a very teary event. It always pulls at my heartstrings when I have to see them go...the next time I'll see them, they'll each be much older and will have changed AGAIN. I always envy other families who have relatives close by and get to participate in family events and grow up as friends. Haha, it always makes me laugh when we have to 'reunite' and become reaquainted with each other--it's very awkward and almost tense. But thankfully that never lasts and by the end it's like we'd always been together. I love them SO MUCH.

Until next time, we love you!!

Crazy Dutch.
