The Nursery

So we've started on the nursery...it's not completely finished, but give me time...

Here's the room all taped up...kind of a 'before' shot...even though the real 'before' shot was when the room was full of boxes and our ironing board...

Here's Jeff shaking up the one of the paint cans...
I'm pretty sure he did most all of the work, and I'm so grateful he's a handyman. I helped tape the room...actually...I just taped over the electric outlets. Hahaha, Jeff and his brother Matt did the rest of the taping. Oh yeah! I put down the plastic on the floor. That was my contribution. And I picked out the paint colors.

I didn't get any shots of Jeff in the process of painting because I was asleep the whole time...the whole 4 or 5 hours it took him...

Oops.

He did a really good job though...thanks sweetheart!

It's hard to see the colors very well because the lighting in the room isn't all that great...plus they're pastel colors...

Now, like I said it's not completely finished...we're still planning on putting white chair railing around the room where the white line separates the yellow and green...and then I'm planning on decorating with classic pooh...

And here's the finished product!! It's really nice...not only is it a crib, but there's a changing table, a clothes hamper, shelves, and a storage drawer underneath...

Now I get to start decorating!!

Jeff just helped me bake chocolate chip cookies...his idea...

SO CUTE.

I love him. And his spontaneousness.

Merlin, Mim, and Rascal

I'd like to introduce you to my kittens...

This is Merlin. The white lady is Mim.

They have wizard names from the movie The Sword and the Stone.
The reason: they're polydactyl cats--which means they have extra toes...back in medival times they were considered witches cats.
(Mim has two extra toes on her front paws, Merlin has three extra on his front paws and one extra on his hind paws)

Oh, and let's not forget our big baby, Rascal. He'd be the one lounging in the back...
I know lots of people don't like cats, but I don't understand why...
They're HILARIOUS.
And so low-maitenance.
And they puuuuuuurrrrr...
And they don't smell.
Oh how I love my little kitties...
(And so does Jeff)

I finally popped.

25.5 weeks baby.

I ::heart:: him much.

He's so cute already. Look how he fits perfectly in my tummy...and no where else.

I can't imagine getting any bigger.

I already feel like I've got a baby watermelon in my stomach.

I'm so excited to meet him!!!!
Jeff and I are so grateful to have the opportunity to be parents...it's going to be a big job, but we know he'll be worth it.

My pregnancy this past 25 weeks...

So I'm stealing this from my friend Emily's blog...I thought it was cute and funny, and even though I'm not full term, I was bored so here we go...

Workout Routine:
HahahahaHAHAHAhahahaAHA. I wish. I have problems motivating myself to workout. It's not that I don't like to be in shape (although it's pretty impossible to be any other shape than ROUND at this point) and I love being active, but I don't have a routine. I'd consider my working out very spontaneous. I go swimming once a week and I have taken some brisk walks. I climb the stairs every day at least 10 times a day...if that counts :) I think once it starts to cool off I'll be more willing to go outside and walk more.

Most Surprising Symptom:
Lack of sleep. I find myself waking up a couple different times during the night to get more comfortable. Having a huge belly in front of you makes things super complicated when you only have two positions to lie in--on your left side or on your right side.

Favorite Part:
Feeling the baby move. It's the strangest sensation in the world, and I love it. Sometimes it takes me by surprise, but it's fun to feel him move from one side of my belly to the other. Jeff thinks it's awesome that when he talks to my belly sometimes the baby will move just for him.

Most Terrifying Part:
Bringing the baby home. I'm afraid I won't know what to do! (And in all honesty, I'm not too worried about the labor process...I'm actually kind of excited for the experience...)

Most Frequent Craving:
I haven't had one craving that has lasted the entire 25 weeks. I have had cravings that last periods of time though. At first I didn't crave anything because just the thought of food made me vomit. But once I passed the first trimester I was craving Spaghetti-O's and toast, and then Pete's Fish and Chips for a couple of weeks, then I really wanted Olive Garden...I've also had cravings for cookies and See's chocolate. But every day has a new craving, really. It just depends on what I smell and if I really want it.

Most Annoying Symptom:
Backaches. I don't know what brings it on, or when it's coming, but I do know that Tylenol is my best friend.

Weirdest Symptom:
Congestion. I feel like I've had a stuffed up nose for the past 5 months. But then again, I sneeze and have a runny nose at the same time. It's so weird. I was thinking about how many times a normal person sneezes in one day, and it's probably only once or twice, if that. I, on the other hand, sneeze about 20 times a day. No joke. Ask Jeff. He knows to wait for the 3rd sneeze in a row before saying, Bless you!

Funniest Memory (So Far):
My funniest memory probably isn't very appropriate...well, not that it's inappropriate, it's just...uncomfortable. We all have to go through this at some point so...get over it. My first baby doctor appointment I had my very first pelvic exam/pap smear/what-the-heck-is-she-doing-to-me experience. I was fortunate enough to have Jeff come with me so that I wouldn't be alone and so nervous. Well, he thought the whole ordeal was amusing and it was like payback for laughing at him when he got a prostrate exam. Too much info, I know. But it was HILARIOUS.

Weight Gain (25 weeks):
Starting Weight: 127 lbs
First Trimester: Didn't gain anything
Current Weight: 140 lbs

4th of July weekend

It's been a while, but for the 4th of July weekend I went up with Jeff's family to his grandparent's cabin in Concho...it's located near Pinetop and Taylor and Showlow...it was really nice to get away for a weekend and not have any responsiblities for the time being. Plus it was GREAT to get away from the valley heat. Like...REALLY great. I loved it. Having this little bundle of joy in my belly provides me an extra warmth that I'm not used to.

So anyway, while we were up there on the 120+ acres of land, we were able to go shooting!! It wasn't anything extravagant, but we had fun shooting a .22 and a little pistol...which surprisingly, the pistol had a greater kick and sound than the .22

We were also able to go to the Taylor Rodeo on the 4th of July...

I hadn't been to a rodeo since I was really little...

It was very entertaining.

My favorite part was either watching the fireworks...or eating the Indian frybread :)

Fun times

So our good friend, Jeni, came down from New York a few weekends ago and it's a tradition that all the buddies get together for some fun...

So here we are, swimming at Curtis's parent's house...

Well, actually, I was thrown in.
It was freezing.

This is Jeff and I practicing our baby handling skills. I'm holding Zolie, the cutest baby ever. She's Jeni's neice. I think she's 2 months...

I'm around 18 weeks here.

Anyways, we really enjoyed seeing Jeni and the rest of the gang...
