Sedona, part 1

The annual Van Capelle Memorial Day camping trip was tweaked a little this year, and instead of roughing it in a tent up near Woods Canyon Point, we spent the weekend in a cabin in Sedona.
And yes, although it was air-conditioned and had running water (AKA bathrooms with clean toilets and showers) we still considered it a camping trip. We had no TV, no wi-fi, and some people didn't even have a cellphone signal. We did, however, go on multiple hikes, spent numerous hours in the creek, and occupied each other with games.
WE HAD A BLAST.
We left Friday late in the morning and just returned home yesterday afternoon...5 days of glorious weather and open spaces.

Saturday morning Jeff, Emma, the kids and I left early to meet up with Jeff's family who were planning on hiking the West Fork Trail in Sedona. It was a perfect coincidence for us, since we were already there, and we were happy to join them.

It was a fairly easy hike, even with the 13 creek crossings, but it was a little lengthy with the kids--over 6 miles round-trip. I'd definitely do it again though because the scenery was beautiful and we really enjoyed it.

We reached the end!! Time for a breather and a snack...

Logan fell asleep about 10 minutes after we started our way back...
...lucky duck!

Once we reached the end of the hike, we found a table and all had a picnic.
We really had a fun time on the hike, and it was so good to be able to join the rest of the Downses on their Memorial Day outing.
